Towards the end of my walk, I heard a red-shouldered hawk and looked up to see one flying into the nearby pine trees. It was partially obscured by the trees, but I was able to get a fair picture. Allaboutbirds.com has information about birds including the sounds of these hawks. My dog started to bark and run towards the bird because he doesn’t like the sound of them or flickers or pileated woodpeckers. I think it seems they are laughing at him.

When I went for a walk near an old beaver pond near my home, I saw a barred owl fly up into the trees near me. There are no beavers in the pond now, it is mostly cattails. I was fairly close to the owl and got a few good pictures.
